New Media Services Launched!　Major Renewal of Design Magazine "AXIS" and Opening of Membership Digital Service "AXIS Media Membership"

AXIS Co., Ltd. (Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and Representative Director: Nobuo Asaka) announces the release of the renewed issue of Design Magazine AXIS on Monday, July 1, 2024, and the launch of the membership-based digital service "AXIS Media Membership." "AXIS Media" will be newly launched by integrating four media, "Design Magazine," "AXIS Gallery," and "AXIS Web," which have been disseminating design information and pursuing its intrinsic value, with new digital services. We will further develop our unique media services by leveraging the diverse network we have built over the past 40 years.

■Design Magazine "AXIS" Renewal

This year, our magazine is celebrating its 43rd anniversary since its first publication in 1981. Over the past few years, design has continued to expand. As is evident from the use of terminology such as design thinking and design management, design is being reinterpreted and re-evaluated through the perspective of business and philosophy. At the same time, design, which had previously been kept enclosed among specialists, is experiencing an accelerating move toward democratization where it can be accessed by a growing number of people. In what direction will the increasingly expanding and openness of design head toward in the future? Looking toward this new phase, we carried out an extensive renewal of the AXIS magazine. We will shift the release from bimonthly to quarterly in order to provide content with added depth and insight.

-The series of designer cover interviews, which continued from Ettore Sottsass in issue #70 (1997) to Gen Terao (Barmuda) in issue #186 (2017), has been revived

■ Membership Digital Service "Media Membership" Launched

AXIS Media Membership is a digital service for creators and business people who share a common language of design to work creatively. Since the first issue of Design Magazine "AXIS," we have been pursuing the essence of design and have started AXIS Media Membership with the renewal of the magazine in order to deliver the information that we have been sending to you. "AXIS Media Membership" will be started with the renewal of the magazine. In addition to disseminating design information both in Japan and abroad, we will also provide opportunities for people who share common interests to meet, inspire each other, and explore the future of design.

Higher resolution of information with expressions only possible with digital technology
In addition to content exclusive to AXIS Media Membership, articles published in the Design Magazine "AXIS" have been re-edited for the Web. It extends not only to text and photos, but also to media such as video and audio to deliver content with higher resolution than ever before.

Experiencing the unique live performance and expanding the network
"CONNECT," a program that extends published articles into real-life settings. We will offer a unique live experience with talk sessions featuring designers/creators active on the front lines and professionals with expertise in their respective fields, as well as workshops to discover new possibilities.

Four service plans to choose from

"AXIS Media," which develops content in collaboration with four different media, venturing out from the magazine to the display and further into the physical arena. We will provide various opportunities to exchange and stimulate each other with design.
