Towards the future and development of design

Established in 1952, the Japan Industrial Designers’ Association is the only nationwide organization of industrial designers in Japan. In cooperation with Japan’s design world, JIDA continues to make positive efforts towards the development of industry, society, and culture.

Promotion and activity of the JIDA Design Museum

Industrial design was introduced into Japan in earnest after World War II. Design has played an important role in the promotion of post-war Japanese industry. Realizing that such excellence must be preserved and passed on, JIDA opened a permanent facility in Shinshu-shinmachi, Nagano Prefecture in 1993. This was the first museum in the world to be established and operated by a designers' association. The JIDA Design Museum has opened a branch in AXIS and is reaching out to the general public. The JIDA Design Museum serves as a creative base that passes on design through interactive communication such as educating next-generation designers.
